Sarah Palin - Why it's OK to punch your girlfriend in the face

Caribou Barbie for President in 2012 2016

Sarah Palin tells us why it's OK to punch your girlfriend in the face.

For a minute there I thought she was going to cite the Bible, but she has a patriotic excuse, not a religious excuse.

Roberts: Sorry, Sarah Palin. Obama didn't hit your son's girlfriend

Sarah Palin, it seems, can explain her son’s arrest Monday for punching his girlfriend in the face.

A. He’s a war veteran.

And B. It’s Obama’s fault.

“My son like so many others, they come back a bit different, they come back hardened, they come back wondering if there is that respect for what it is that their fellow soldiers and airmen and every other member of the military so sacrificially have given to this country. And that starts from the top.

"It’s a shame that our military personnel even have to wonder, if they have to question, if they’re respected anymore. It starts from the top. The question though that comes from our own president where they have to look at him and wonder, do you know what we go through? Do you know what we’re trying to do to secure America and to secure the freedoms that have been bequeathed us?”

According to police, Track Palin, 26, and his girlfriend were arguing over an ex-boyfriend. The girlfriend told police that Track “struck her on the left side of the head near her eye with a closed fist. (She) then got on the ground in a fetal position because she didn’t know what else he would do. Palin then kicked (her) on the right knee.”

So, if only we had a president who respected veterans, a woman’s face might not have met up with poor Track’s fist? Or her knee with his boot?

Do I have that right?

Sorry, but no.

Being a football player is not an excuse to deck your girlfriend, as a certain former Baltimore Ravens running back discovered last year.

Being an elected official is not an excuse to deck your girlfriend, as former members of the Arizona Legislature have found out.

And being a war veteran? It’s not an excuse to put your fist in your girlfriend’s face or to even to kick her while she’s lying on the ground.

Track Palin was in the Army and served in Iraq in 2008.

Palin implied that her son suffers from PTSD. If so, that’s a shame and I’m certainly glad that she has the resources to get him the help he needs.

It’s a national tragedy that we as a nation don’t do more to care for veterans suffering from PTSD and other mental health issues. An absolute outrage.

But it’s not an excuse that entitles, enables or otherwise explains beating up your girlfriend.

Palin goes on to tell us that she can relate to families that have to deal with PTSD and “some of the woundedness that our soldiers do return with.”

"And it makes me realize, more than ever, it is now or never, for the sake of America's finest, that we have that commander-in-chief who will respect them and honor them."

Yep, I can just see Trump’s new campaign slogan now. Should be a winner with female voters.

Make America Great Again or Your Veteran Boyfriend May Beat You Up.

Sorry, but no.
